Grupo Clarín is the largest audiovisual media group in Argentina, which brings together print and digital publications, television, radio, cable, Internet access, digital content and others. The new version of the website found its motivations in two main aspects: the need to renew the Group's presentation and the need to have a flexible content platform, which would allow it to set a public position in the face of publicly known events.

Project goals:

  • Renew the presentation of the Group, improving the navigation clarity of abundant information and the quality of the graphic design for a better understanding.
  • Have a flexible and self-manageable content platform, which would allow it to establish a public position quickly in the face of publicly known political events.
  • Have better statistical tools for evaluating the interest aroused by the different content published.
  • Improve the Group's presentation in the eyes of potential investors.

Development:

The website mainly has three areas: institutional information sections (includes all the information about the different media that make up the group), dynamic content sections establishing the group's public positions (news, the official escalation, nonsense, news , etc.) and integration with external applications (sub-site for investors). In addition, the following aspects should be highlighted:

  • Navigation - Navigation was organized by integrating menus, panels and views. Also, menu modules for dynamic html and accordions were used.
  • SQL Server- The Drupal solution was implemented on SQL Server servers, given internal technical needs of the organization. This implied a work of various adjustments for a correct operation of the solution.
  • Theming in general - The styling of the site can be considered intermediate / advanced level. There are complex sections such as the main menu, secondary menu and the display of individual nodes. We use the Fusion Theme as a base.
  • SEO - Several modules were installed to optimize the SEO aspects of the solution, including those related to page titles, metatags, automatic URL generation and other more technical ones.

Key modules used:

  • Context - For site-wide block placement.
  • DHTML Menu, Accordion - For main menu with sub-items
  • Views Slideshow, LightBox2 - For the tabs/slideshows of the home and other sections.
  • Page Title, Metatag, Pathauto, Transliteration - For the assembly with SEO logic of the urls of the site.
  • Faq, External links - For navigation plugins.
  • Mollom- For spam control.
